Calgary, Alberta: The 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sport Is Faster Than the Competition

Long gone are the days of luxury vehicles being slow, heavy gas guzzlers. The 2020 Alfa Romeo Stelvio Sport destroys misconceptions with its fuel-efficient powertrain and feisty performance.

As a stately SUV, this model comes with a twin-turbocharged 2.0 litre four-cylinder engine that has been paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Rolling on large 19-inch aluminum wheels and fitted with RWD for optimized control, it generates 280 hp and 306 lb-ft of torque. It can hit a top speed of 231 kph, and you can expect to get around 12.3 L/100 km combined (13.9 L/100 km city and 10.3 L/100 km highway) in this beast. During track tests, it was able to go from zero to 100 kph in only 5.4 seconds.

Compare those numbers to the 2020 Porsche Macan, which uses a weaker 2.0 liter Inline-4 motor to produce a mere 248 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque. On its best day, it can get up to a far less impressive 226 kph, and its acceleration time to 100 kph is 6.3 seconds. Between the two vehicles, the Alfa Romeo Stelvio is clearly superior.
